At least, that is what these are called.
Nothing like either of the blackberries we find in Waterloo.
They were just given to me and I'm not sure what the tree looks like.
They are fuzzy inside and out. The whole thing is about the size of an adult thumbnail (mine anyway) and is like velvet. You can split them quite easily with your fingers. And inside is a fuzzy meat with a concave disk-shaped seed. The meat has the texture of a soft nut, sort of like a damp peanut (that sounds bad, but it is actually quite tasty). And the flavour is reminiscent of a blackberry.

Am from Ghana where you got this fruit from. It's my favorite fruit. This fruit i seasonal, its avaliable during the fall.( January thru Feb). However, am not sure what its nutritional value is.
In Ghana, we call it yooyi
It is called velvet tamarind
It is very common in Akatsi North and South Districts of the Volta Region. Locally called Atitoe
